sorry but maybe supplying too much info is the problem ., eg. so many photos.I saw somewhere that only one or two are needed . I followed that format in 2014 but it took 11 months for ex wife to get the PMV anyway . Who knows what is best when dealing
with government departments !

We've followed every letter of the law, no violations or overstays, and still no progression.
Although no legal cap on numbers , decisions on applications are pushed into next fiscal year if number for year exceeds the number they can process . But they do not tell applicants that this is reason for delay and keep them guessing and stressed out ! Disgraceful to treat people that way and it has just become a money making exercise I guess.

Granted!

Happy to say that my 309 visa was granted on May 3! We applied in March 2018 from the US (application processed in Chile of all places) when the processing time was 10-15 months, so we came in on the upper end of that. We did frontload police and health checks, but were requested to submit updated ones back in February. Out SP40 form was submitted in PDF on my application. See you all in OZ!

I thought that in practice they did not insist on new police and health certificates and what a pain you had to do that at additional cost . In 2014 when ex wife did her application it was well over 12 months and she was told they rarely ask for new ones . anyway , congrats and now your stress level might drop ( smile ) .

Thanks! Yep, stress levels have decreased exponentially. I think it was a bit complicated with me because I had lived in so many different countries, and by the time they had even gotten to review mine, most of my police checks and health records were already a year old.

Not true. Sometimes if it's only within a few weeks of expiry, they'll let it pass (I know of this happening to a personal friend), but more often than not from what I read on here, they request new ones.

Immigration do warn everyone that police checks and medicals are only valid for 12 months for immigration purposes and that it's best to wait until contacted, so I assume people that do them without being requested know the risk and are willing to take it in hopes of a speedier approval by having a decision ready application. This is what I did and I was prepared to pay the cost to get them done again if necessary.

actually it was true in our case as well over the 12 months . Your strategy was not bad but surely the health check is expensive nowadays ? Actually , not a bad idea if elderly or even if not to get a health check BEFORE paying the now HUGE visa fee ! ( smile )
