Thanks!
Congrats but what ive noticed from the chat rooms is that the people from the not white countries are the ones taking forever. Which says a lot about aussie right now =/

What exactly does it say about Australia?

It isn't the fault of Australia if Security checks take longer from some countries than from others.

However, look at these recent 309 Visas grants, June and July 2019

Turkey 21/06/19 granted after 5.0 months
India 01/07/19 granted after 5.9 months
India 01/07/19 granted after 6.6 months
Canada 21/06/19 granted after 8.2 months
Lebanon 12/06/19 granted after 8.7 months
Canada 14/06/19 granted after 9.7 months
USA 21/06/19 granted after 14.8 months
India 01/07/19 granted after 15.1 months

I am aussie. But how rare is it that you see an americans take ages or a canadians. Like i think its great you got approval. But i am so sorry it should not take two years to process a visa. It does say a lot about the current climate of australia. Sad sad sad.

J&e its political not just about how long security checks take. They tell you that to keep you quiet. They limit how many they let in each year and it is part of the reason it takes so long. They have a quota per year. So thats why a lot of people wait a year. N funnily enough most of the people that wait are not white. Sorry sounds bad but i see a trend. But come on some come in after 4 months and others 20 months. You must not be that blind.

Many applicants from the US are complaining about how long their Visas are taking.

Many delays are due to the time it takes for the applicants country to process what they need to do. Australia has very little control over some of those processes.

Believe what you wanna believe but if australia were pro immigration and so on. Your visas would be done in 8 months no later. Even thats being generous. The current climate around is anti immigration. We voted in (not me) the people who had policies against immigrants and who keep reducing immigration. This coming from a white australian. At one point they had the most racist man in the party head of immigration. So says it all. Its common to see an african wait for 2 years than usa unless they have a criminal record of some sort or they are actually not from the usa.

Anyway i could debate all day. It doesnt help matters. I just suggest anyone waiting watch the time frames once over the time frame give em hell. As they have to answer you as thats the deal. Also go to your local member and ask for assistance. if they see you are gonna be a pain they will get on with it.
Australian partners this is your job. I did this and ended up getting a response from the secretary of that office as they were sick of me. He also got his interview a week later.

I agree that Visas could be done faster, but Australia is reducing the numbers of grants, and the numbers applying are increasing.

The result is longer waiting lists. I just don't agree with you that it is down to the colour of the applicant.

From the 86 subclass 309 grants that I have seen this year (with 2 or more grants), the three countries that wait the longest, on average, are Canada, Iraq and the USA.

The fastest are Turkey and Fiji.

That does not indicate that the applicants colour has anything to do with it.
.
  • Turkey, 3 grants between 1.4 and 7.1 months with an average of 4.5 months
  • Fiji, 2 grants between 4.7 and 5.2 months with an average of 5 months
  • UK, 12 grants between 2.7 and 9 months with an average of 5.3 months
  • Netherlands, 2 grants between 2.7 and 8.6 months with an average of 5.7 months
  • India, 9 grants between 3 and 15.1 months with an average of 6.5 months
  • Germany, 5 grants between 5.5 and 14.9 months with an average of 8.4 months
  • Thailand, 3 grants between 4 and 10.8 months with an average of 8.5 months
  • Lebanon, 5 grants between 8.1 and 9.4 months with an average of 8.6 months
  • Canada, 10 grants between 6 and 18.4 months with an average of 9.5 months
  • Iraq, 2 grants between 8.8 and 12.8 months with an average of 10.8 months
  • USA, 15 grants between 10.9 and 18.6 months with an average of 13.6 months
