It has been a long 8 months!
I was waiting inside Australia on an ETA and was asked to leave the country in order for visa outcome.

Hi karinata,

Can you advise how many times you left and came back on your eta and was it a problem? My husband is also from Malaysia and is on an eta from May and had re-entered once already. His 3 months is expiring in 2 weeks and his visa approval is yet to be granted for his 309. We applied in December 2017 and it has been a long wait since then..

hi irina,
i left once on the eta. the second time i left, it was requested so that my visa could be granted to me. re-entering australia wasn't an issue for me - the immigration officer only asked what was the purpose of my visit and i was honest to say that i was visiting my husband who has permanent residency. did your husband apply offshore from malaysia as well?

Yes he applied offshore from Malaysia in 2017. We were requested with further documents in May and have not heard anything since.

Hi everyone,

I am Australian and my girlfriend is American, we have been in a relationship nearly 4 years, living together 1.5 years at time of lodgement. We live in NZ, which is where we lodged the application.

Our timeline so far:
Applied: 19 March 2019
S56 RFI: 5 August 2019 (AFP clearance for applicant)
Doc uploaded: 11 September

My partner received a S56 RFI for her AFP clearance (she lived in Aus for 11 months so we did not submit this initially but all other PCCs and medicals were front-loaded) which we uploaded on 11 September. Does this mean we are potentially close to getting a grant? I'm a bit worried that we will have to wait for a few more months since almost all people I've seen that got their grant soon after, it was within a month of uploading the requested docs. Any advice would be great.

Question Bridging Visa 309

Hi All,

I had applied for my wife's spouse visa 309 on 27 May 2019. She came to Melbourne on the 4th of September on Tourist Visa.

She is still in Melbourne and will be flying back on the 26th of November.

My question is that, in the visa application portal, I can see an option to apply for a bridging visa.
Can I apply for one, so that she can stay with me until 309 gets granted? Am I allowed/eligible to do so?
Can its refusal hamper the 309 application?

Thanks
Ishesh
