After the first RFI we waited 3 months for the "visa application is progressing" email and now a week later have another RFI for information they already
have, it's hard not to think they are deliberately dragging this out, i was really hopeful for a Visa before Christmas but those hopes are now dashed.

2) I applied mid June this year with everything front loaded apart from medical which was done 10 days later. How much longer should it realistically take through London? Sponsor and I have been together 5+ years, married 2+, and we have a 3 year old together who I'm desperate to settle permanently with 😢
Hiya.

I can't respond to your Q1 (although I don't understand what you are asking, so I am not sure others do). Edit: I think I might understand. If it's asking that you legally live there....likely? We used an agent. You will have to show ALL travel, and if you have been there long enough, get a background check. Expect proof to be requested, upload and label evidence.

2. I can only tell you about my mildly similar situation. We applied, also decision ready (medicals done on request/additional info for background checks requested and supplied) in January 2019. All further documents requested and submitted in April. Biometrics completed in May. Some requests came through London, but your paperwork can be spread out among different people and offices. We have heard nothing from immi since submitting the biometrics. Although we do not have children we have been married for 10 years. Unfortunately, your family situation does not speed things up. Also, like you, we are feeling increasingly frustrated. We thought that the biometrics request meant that could expect a grant, so my husband took a job in Australia a couple months later and I also gave notice (my job required months of notice and my industry usually hires 3-5 months in advance). We are facing some heart wrenching decisions soon.

So, from someone who understands, I hope you get your decision soon, and I hope the fact that you are raising a child gets considered...kids need stability. However, try to be patient. It can Take a LOT more time than any of us expected when we started. It feels like the grant times get pushed back every month (...strange, considering that this government's apparent stance on immigration).

Can anyone post updates of grant times? It seems that every month the grant time gets pushed out another month! I know someone posted a link of where to check, but I can't find it now.

Thanks.

I thought their stance was to cut down the numbers of Immigrants, and to try to only get the best qualified, which means resulting increases of processing times due to more time taken doing checks etc., and more people in the queue.
  • Mar 19, 2019 - Australia on Wednesday cut its annual intake of immigrants by nearly 15 percent. Down 30,000 people, to 160,000 a year.
  • Aug 22, 2019 - Australia's permanent migration intake could drop by more than 10,000 people this year due to two major changes.
