Oops! My bad.....didn't realize this was referencing an Aussie!

Hi all,

I've been a long time lurker but I've never made a profile until now. My wife's 309 visa just came through today. We didn't use an agent. She's Russian and our application went through the High Commission in London. On the Russian forums a bunch of people have had their 309 visas come through. So if you've applied around March, April or May this year through London you might be getting a Christmas present cutesy of the Department of Home Affairs.

Thank you to everyone who posted answer to all the various questions. Thank you especially to JandE for your helpful posts about who got their visas and when.

My wife's visa data:
Visa 309 applied: 26/04/2019
Biometrics: 21/06/2019
Medicine: 15/07/2019
Grant: 05/12/2019

I have never seen anyone on this site having a visa application rejected and yet we always here how one false step can result in a refusal ! I think the officer just asks for more information if insufficient given or for clarification on an issue .

According to an Foi, about 1 in 10 partner visas get refused. It was actually 9.46% in 2017/18 for the 309/100 subclass.

Not many people who get refused end up coming back on to forums, and posting about it, unless they want help for an appeal. I have seen a few of those.

I have also seen a couple who have been refused, and mentioned it, and then never posted again.

But there are quite a few who have posted timelines, but never mention if granted or not. Some of these may be refusals, and others may just be people who don't want to share the news of their grant.

We see lots of visitor visa refusals on this forum though, even though only about 2.3% of those get refused.

interesting but based on the way some people provide incorrect information and di not seem to be eligible ( have seen posts indicating that ) it is a wonder there are not more than 10% . I wonder what reasons are given for the refusals as that might bear out what I think . it is sad when visa fees are almost $8000 in some cases and what a money making racket - almost mafia style from captive prisoners ! ( smile )

I looked at those 2 links and easy to understand why they were refused but I was surprised at the rather patronising and insulting responses of the migration agents as it is
out of order . Some people are not used to paperwork and also maybe do not have a high IQ but we are all different . I hope they will have successful appeals but I think an appeal costs too and appeal not permitted with some visas I seem to recall.

Hi Guys,
Little update from our side
Received request s56 again on 03/12 asking for Other-Wedding pictures
Case officer asked for 10 wedding pictures with summary( Name of Ceremony, Place, Date and person depicted)
I was asked to write all this on back of picture and scan both side then attach

I dragged each picture to MS word then typed description underneath of each page so attached 10 pages of all that. Saved the file as pdf then attached. Clicked on link that I have provided information as requested

Informed case officer via same email that I have attached wedding pictures file and explained that I have done things this way.

Hoping for Grant soon, Wish us Luck 😊

No problem with the sponsor being divorced, as long as you have supplied the court documents to prove this.
