That status, "submitted" for the sponsor, may never change.. Even after the visa grant.

I've got a couple of quick questions, apologies if these have been answered previously. A little about us - I'm an Australian, been with my British partner for 7 years (not married) living in England. We submitted his visa application on the 1st of September 2019, uploaded all documents included police checks/health checks by 1st October 2019. After receiving the initial application received email we haven't heard anything, which doesn't overly concern me as I know these things take time (but fingers crossed they contact us before the checks expire!).

So my questions

- The status of his visa application is Family stage 1 - Received and mine is Family sponsorship - submitted. Does that seem correct/Normal?
- Do you receive an email if you're assigned an agent or if everything is good with your application do you just receive an email saying its approved or come in for an interview etc?
- How soon after you submit do agents normally contact you for more information, if needed?
- If I hear nothing after say 9 months or so should I contact the immigration office to inquire?

Thanks so much!
Hey Laura,

I am in a similar boat to yourself.
I am British and my partner is Australian. We live in New Zealand.

We applied for the Visa on 11 November 2019.
Everything is front loaded as I had most stuff from NZ Visa applications.

The application status is currently on initial assessment and I think this happened about 3 weeks after submitting the application. The sponsorship visa (40sp) was completed around 2 weeks after however the status remains submitted.

That said, we have not had any contact from a CO despite being in the initial assessment stage. (Not really expecting any contact for a long time though)

This might help in relation to expectations around status changes.

Cheers,

Tash
Have u done your biometrics and medicals. When you do them and click on the i confirm button, the status changes to furthwr assessment. Alot of people have been frontloading their application these days from what am seeing on the forum, and they seem to get quick response.

We applied May 2019, on immi account still says submitted. We have submitted everything that is needed, the status has never changed to further assessment, still says submitted. Had no contact whats so ever. Getting really cheesed off now with the wait.

Married 17 years, together for 25 years. What more do they possibly need!!!!

A bit concerned now that the application hasn't changed to further assessment 7 months on.

We are also married (3 years and 4 months) and we applied April 2019. In August they requested medicals, we submitted them and since then nothing! It is so frustrating!

I rang the department of Immigration just to clarify my Form 40SP question and according to them, follow the steps as outlined below. A lady answered the call and was very helpful, she asked me to login to immi account and explained the whole process.
Steps:
1.Fill out the forms and pay/lodge the visa 309. Note here, there applicant is my partner and I am the sponsor.
2. Once you have lodged it, you get a TRN Number. It is also there on the Letter of Acknowledgement.
3. Create another immi account on the name of the sponsor (myself).
4. Create a new application.
5. Go to 4th Option > Family and click on "Sponsorship for a Partner to Migrate to Australia (300,309/100,820/801)"
6. Fill out the form and upload the documents.

Pretty sure you guys knew most of this already but just a good information to have.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hi All,
I am an Australian citizen and have applied 309 for my husband on 01/03/2019 through a migration agent based in Australia. My husbandís visitor visa got refused twice as he is unemployed at the moment in India. We are expecting are first child in March 2020.
Please advise can we apply another visitor visa on assistance grounds? Our agent is hopeless and useless.
Any advice is appreciated.
