Has anyone heard any grants from Fiji lately? We had our medicals requested in early March and they are completed and passed, now nothing since the lockdown....

Hmm...I wonder how they assign the applications to which country...It obviously doesn't seem to be depending on your passport country. I thought because we did everything through the agent in Australia it would have been a Sydney office.

We applied in March and they requested medical and biometrics straight away. Heard nothing since. When did you lodge?

September 2019. We have been married for 3 years, defacto for a long time prior and have a one year old. Did you get a specific Request for Information for the medical or was it just the agent requesting it?

The agent sent the forms for biometrics which was generated automatically i assume as we received it the same day. Also the referral for e-medical was requested straight away and I've just read on the Aust Govt Dept of Home Affairs it says if applying online it automatically direct you to the service.

Or once the visa is granted, can we get married while she is on the partner visa or do we have to wait for the 820 to come through?

I don't want the prospective marriage visa as we will be getting married outside of Australia and I think the prospective marriage visa only for those that want to get married once arriving in Australia. Is that correct?

Thanks
First you need to understand that 309 and 820 are for married couples. One is for partners offshore application while the other one is done onshore some mostly after holding a 300 pmv.

You will need to get married first to apply the 309.
If your aim is to go the 820 way then you need to wait for your partner to be given a PMV first. The other option is in the middle of your application if you get married you need to inform the application center and they would switch you to 309 so your partner remains offshore during processing.

you can apply for a partner visa as de-facto and then get married while the application is on process. Just make sure once you guys get married to update 'change of circumstances' on immiaccount and mention about your marriage and update the relevant legal documents to prove the same.
