With so few 309s being finalised worldwide, it might be an instruction from Australia to hold the finalisation of applications back, until Australia opens up again.

The idea is to do whatever is possible to reduce the numbers of people arriving in Australia during COVID-19.

10 July 2020- Australia will halve the number of international arrivals to the country to ensure the risk of COVID-19 infections can be properly managed.

13,380 Australian resident visa holders/Citizens arrived in Australia during May 2020, compared to:
866,280 Australian resident visa holders/Citizens arrived in Australia during May 2019.

And they are cutting those May 2020 numbers even more from July.

Western Australia will limit international arrivals to 525 per week.
New South Wales has set a maximum of 50 inbound passengers per flight, and 450 inbound passengers per day.
Victoria has banned international arrivals.
If melbourne banned international arrivals than how i can go and why travel agent give me airline tickets?? Im going in august 2020 i have 309 visa if any problems than why travel agents sell the ticket??

I share your sentiments, dont worry mate, we are on same boat, and as far I can tell there is dozen people only in this forum who were caught in the middle because of covid.

Stay strong , talk to your friends and Famiily, I myself have made peace with it becuase thinking of this was causing anxiety and depression , stuck away from loved one is not easy, only on whom this is happening can understand.

as of me , I am waiting to for things to go easy, praying to god, more international flights, who knows in 1-2 months we have some routes open and all grants come in.

even the consulate knows and they understand, hopefully they will kickstart this soon.

As of today, if my partner comes, its an out of pocket expense of $5000

which is nothing if we want our partner here, but a bit more wait ( i know its easy to say) and wonderful days are not far.

try other routes such as visitor visa /Exemption.

@ everyone, please keep on sharing your thoughts, i myself find all of you asfreinds on same journey, Horizon is not that far.

Thanks mate, yes I agree with you that thinking about it causes more anxiety and depression. Atleast we are alive and doing well by God's grace, when so many people are dying all around the globe due to this virus. Hope so that things get to normal soon and just pray that the visa is granted atleast this year.
Other routes like visitor visa/exemption is not feasible for 309 visa applicants, as they have to again fly out of Australia and return and stay in quarantine when the visa is granted. So it will be very expensive, more than $10k.

yes, even I applied 309/100 for my wife on March 2019. Although the status is Further Processing since March 2020, there is no update since then. I think Delhi office have stopped checking 309 visa applications since April 2020.

The Melbourne airport is closed so no international flights at the moment. You could fly to Sydney, complete your 14-day quarantine there before travelling to Melbourne. No permit or approval is required to enter Victoria from another state – however you will need to adhere to the restrictions and directions that are in place to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victoria.

It depends where you travel from.

Victoria is not an ideal place to go to right now, even for those who can cross the border.

Currently no international arrivals will be flying into Melbourne due to the latest government ban. The restrictions are in place until 8 August 2020.This might be extended.

Travel to many places in Australia is not recommended. eg:
Do not travel to Sydney

Insight to the UK visa office?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for everyoneís contributions, I only found this website today and itís been so useful!

I am Australian and my husband is Belgian and we applied offshore for his 309/100 on the 03/07/2019. On the 19/02/2020 they requested an additional document, but since then we have heard nothing.

We are being processed through the UK office and from what I have read people are processed quite quickly, 6-12months.

Itís been over 12 months now and Iím 3 months pregnant and Iím getting nervous as I really want to go home to Australia WITH my husband for the birth of our child.

Q) Does anyone have any idea how long processing is taking in the UK office currently?

Thanks so much for any information you can provide.

Steph
