Restrictions are changing frequently, so it depends. As at today you can arrive in Perth and Sydney, but you will pay about $3,000 for your quarantine.

The numbers of overseas arrivals are limited now, so it may also be difficult to get a flight in.
Overseas arrivals in Sydney were capped at 350 passengers per day from 20 July.
WA limits to 75 people per day.

Some interstate travel is also restricted, for everyone, so you may be stuck in the state you land in.

WA has closed its borders to the rest of Australia. Queensland is closing its borders with NSW and ACT this Saturday. It has already closed them to Victoria. NT has closed its borders to some parts of QLD.

Average subclass 309 visa grants.
1,332 grants per month 2018/19
1,136 grants per month 2019/20 (to April)

Obviously, with the planned reduction of offshore visa grants due to Covid, the numbers of grants will be lower this year.
I will be interested in knowing the numbers post April 2020, because it seems that hardly any grants are given April 2020 onwards. Also they have not stopped intake of new 309 visa applications, but they have definitely stopped granting visas. This will just create a huge pile of backlog that will make situation worse for 309 visa applicants.

I am trying to get hold of the May and June figures.

I do have a feeling that when this pandemic is over, there will be a lot of visas ready for immediate grant.

It raises an interesting question:

Will immigration issue them all immediately, and risk employment issues, or will they stagger the grants.

Too many new arrivals, at a time when jobs are rare, might not be seen to be a good thing.

PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION!

Our official petition regarding offshore partner visa processing (subclasses 300 and 309) is LIVE! We need YOUR help to get 10,000 signatures before September 2nd.

If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident and can spare 30 seconds, it would be great to have your support added to the petition for parliament to process offshore partner visas fairly and quickly.

Signing this petition could help thousands of couples finally start their lives together in Australia. Due to inequities in the system (explained in the petition) offshore partner visa applicants can wait more than two years just to get their application looked at. This is an unreasonable amount of time and is resulting in incredible stress for couples and their children, many of whom have to live apart while their visa application is being processed.

If you sign, you will need to check your email straight after to confirm/validate the signature as otherwise it won’t count. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us hope of a fairer processing system!
