Will immigration issue them all immediately, and risk employment issues, or will they stagger the grants.

Too many new arrivals, at a time when jobs are rare, might not be seen to be a good thing.
Please share the May, June, July figures when you get it.
I hope they dont wait till the pandemic is over to grant visas because it will take 1 more year.
Regarding the risk of increase in unemployment due to too many arrivals depends on the type of skill the new arrivals have. If there is demand for their skills then it will have a positive effect on the economy rather than a negative one.

I think they are prioritising people with skills, for that reason.

However, with the massive number currently not working, I can't see many in that position.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has revealed the real unemployment rate is 13.3%. The figure is far higher than the headline rate, which doesn't include those Australian workers who have stopped looking for employment during COVID-19

It was 5.1% at the end of 2019, before COVID hit.

I think that people might have to be prepared for just that.

The Australian governments are doing as much as possible to cut down the movement of people in and into Australia. Both citizens and foreign nationals.

One of the Premiers used the phrase: " it is important that passengers returning home do not overrun the capacity of NSW Health and hotel quarantine." to explain why they are limiting the numbers of overseas arrivals.

It would seem counter productive to grant offshore visas to allow entry, and block entry at the same time.
