This sounds insane but I completely understand you work shopping all options.

When did you apply for the 309? I personally would not withdraw it and it may look iffy to the department of you have 2 applications in and I suspect a new application will override the 309. I wouldn't pay again on principal alone. When does the 600 expire?

I am so sorry you are going through this. I would also recommend you signing and sharing the petition as per your other reply, these are the kinds of issues that are trying to be addressed.

Wishing you well and hope you have a good outcome very soon.

I also consider your opinions to be irrelevant in the context of this thread.
I got my 309 in 36 days, the 100 in 17.

I guess Iíll keep my irrelevant opinions on how to help others to myself.

Cheers.

Can the owner/ moderator please step in to ensure some decent conversations take place and not personal slander?

The behaviour of some members is absolutely appalling. JandE compiles a lot of useful info and says it like it is, not someone who gives false hopes. The reality is borders will be shut until mid 2021 and no one can do a thing about it. Deal with it and stop whinging like a bunch of kids.

Applied for 309 in sep 2019. Visa 600 valid till Feb 21 that we just got granted. In Hindsight should probably have considered onshore application in June2020 when we applied for onshore 600. The way 309 applicants are Effed around particularly from India, there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. Hence considering all options. More pressing needs for a mid 30s couple 🙂

Sorry i did forget to add before that my wife and i waited for 8 weeks for her visa to be approved. Perhaps your application isnt as good and missing important info. Some just have much better applications hence quicker grants.

I got the "mate" reference, it just wasn't directed at you. If you were an Aussie you would understand how we talk

You are approaching 12 months! I wouldn't risk re-submitting and wasting the time you have already waited. And you have till Feb 21 on the 600. That's great news! Don't beat yourself up, its hard to foresee these situations. You are very well positioned in my opinion! I'd wait it out. Good luck and hopefully there are some changes coming and the department may consider some flex with granting the the 309 onshore. I wouldn't hold my breath though, but people are working very hard to make some noise about all this.

Please sign and share the petition, https://www.aph.gov.au/petition_list?id=EN1677. It really needs a lot more signatures but is also doing well and already attracting media attention.

Julian Hill is tabling these issues in parliament on Monday at 11am.

Also there is a FB page https://www.facebook.com/groups/290314428824550/

I understand the 30's factor. We are even older and facing an almost impossible window of time. Please take care, hoping for a good outcome for you very soon.
