Hi everyone, it looks like our application is moving forward, we just got our RFI last week, if we provide the info asked what is the normal timeframe for the visa to be accepted?

Also, they asked us about proof of the sponsor's parents nationality on the day of the sponsor's birth....isnt it a little bit odd? Given than the sponsor is a Australian national?

That is incredibly fast - less than 3 months!

Well and truly beats the DHA offshore processing times of 17-21 months. My partner is applying from Japan and I would hope she gets an outcome sometime this year.

Yesterday my 309 and 100 visas were granted. We are absolutely thrilled.

Timeline was:
Visa Lodged: 11th November 2020
RFI: 22nd December 2020
Medical: 8th January 2021
Police Check completed: 12th January 2021
Medical results finalised: 21st January 2021
Visas granted: 2nd February 2021

Application made offshore from the UK. My wife is Australian and here in the UK with me on a spouse visa. We’ve been married nearly 2 years.

I used a registered migration agent from the government website. It adds to the cost but gave me peace of mind.

Just trying to work out the best time to get over now because of Covid, limited flights and hotel quarantine.

Good luck everyone.

I agree that generally the 309 grants should get approved well under the DHA processing times, as they are 75th and 90th percentiles. The 18-22 month processing times would be for applications lodged 18-22 months ago before COVID was a thing. Now, partner visa allocations have doubled to 72,000 to make up the backlog...applications applied during COVID may process even quicker.

Nevertheless, you can't control whether the visa gets approved sooner or later.

Some recent subclass 309 grants have taken between 4 and 22 months.

In January 2021, 75% took under 18 months and 10% took over 22 months.

For comparison, in January 2020, 75% took under 14 months and 10% took over 19 months.

In the entire 2019/20 year, it was 15-19 months, with the average being 11 months.

Processing times can vary based on many factors, including how well the application is prepared, and the time it takes for various checks to be done in the applicants own country.

This is very strange. Has the Sponsor provided his/her citizenship certificate or OZ passport in the application?

Yes, we provided a passport scan, and furthermore 2 of the stat declarations were made by her parents and theyr ID was theyr Australian passport. We are going to provide the sponsor's birth certificate and an aditional scan of her partents passports. Hope that solves it.

Hi guys!
We have just recieved our first RFI: police clearance for us both, health exam and need to fill in form 40 online. (We uploaded the form as an attachment first)
Super super happy because now we know that they have looked at our application. Time to collect all documents asap and send it in.

Applied in November, got our RFI about 4 weeks ago (offshore application). Had to provide Hong Kong police checks and the health report.

The police checks have been an ordeal but they are progressing, sending the documents this week. We had a month to apply for them but acquiring the fingerprints from Spain has been extremely difficult. We provided a lot of evidence that we were trying to get them so hopefully they will give us an extension to get them processed.

In any case, we want our health check deferred since the applicant is pregnant and its not a good idea to get a chest x-ray right now. Plus the only 2 clinics the government will accept the report from are very far away and travelling in Spain in the pandemic is a bit difficult.

We passed the deadline for the RFI but gave evidence and explanations about why. Hopefully its enough. We've got a pretty strong application outside of that I'd say. Fingers crossed.
