If you can afford the flights, apply for a visitor visa while waiting.

An application for a visitor visa, with the reason given to wait out the PMV in Australia over the holidays, may even speed up a decision, if it is made at about the 7-8 month mark.

I have heard that some get the PMV instead of the Visitor Visa :)

Anyone waiting for 309 in Thailand longer than 12 months here?
or
Anyone got Grant recently? If so, how long processing?

Thank you :-)

Hi,

I applied for 309 visa back in 18th March 2016 from Sri Lanka. I'm planning to travel to Dubai for about 2 months vacation. I need the following to be clarified. Any help would be appreciated.

1. How should i inform the high commission ? Through E-Mail or is there a form to be filled ?

2. Will travelling abroad have an impact on the time taken for the grant ? (Will it take longer)

Immigration are very good with visitor visas and notifying when to leave so that an offshore Partner visa can be granted correctly.

We asked for a 12 month Visitor visa, so the waiting time could be spent in Australia, and got it.

They then notified us when to leave, so the PMV could be granted offshore, and we could return. When we got the notification to leave, we gave them our flight details to Vanuatu and back, so they could finalise the visa.

Thanks very much for that. It's great to know...

It would still be a huge weight off our minds if the Visa was granted in advance! Our proposed travel date to Australia is 8 months from when I submitted my application. So, it's significantly prior to the 10- 14 months quoted as standard. But surely they can process a straight forward Visa for a low risk country in 8 months... Please... fingers crossed!

Hi all,
I have moved to Australia around 3 weeks ago, my husband is still in South Africa waiting for his Partner/Spousal visa to be approved. We have been assigned a case officer, but because of his DUI in 2010 his character assessment has gone into the VACCU for further processing. Has anyone had any experience with this. I am missing him so much and really am looking for any support.

Over 12 months for me :-( really hard coping with the stress of an outcome, especially being alone, raising children without my husband.

Praying for a positive outcome soon for you and I both

We have been waiting over 7 months now.

Applied in February 2016, have provided medicals and police checks. My partner has completed a phone interview over two months ago.

Wondering if we should send an email/message to move along the process.
