Hi Aussiebob & Autojack,
Good to hear something on the Washington DC applications that are out there. I submitted my 309 application with them at the end of Nov 2016. Did my medical and police check right away, hoping it would make it easier for them. Since submitting the application, I have not heard anything. It seems like Washington is taking longer than other embassies.

A hopeful note: In another thread in this forum someone with the username cutex recently shared that he/she got his offshore partnervisa (not sure if 300 or 309) granted on the beginning of April after 8.5 months of processing in Washington DC. By my rough calculation this person must have submitted end of July 2016.

Ideally I hope mine is processed by end of September (after 10 months) as I will for sure still be outside of Australia at that time - After that my husband and I have to get a bit more creative on the timing of things. Most importantly though I really hope it takes less than 12 months otherwise I have to redo the medical

Fingers crossed and let's keep each other updated.

Yeah I saw the comments from cutex that they received theirs after 8.5 months. Which for us (submitted late Oct 2016) would mean we can expect some time in July/Aug give or take if 8.5 months is a good indicator.
Touch wood.

Yeah, hopefully that is an indicator that they are working their way through the pile in DC... Since you applied in Oct you should hear something before me - let's keep each other posted if there are any news.
May the patience be with us...

Hi everyone,
I have applied for a 309 partner visa to be able to join my husband (the visa sponsor) in Australia. After logging into immi account today, I noticed that the word "Approved" is now written next to my husband's name, and the link to attach documents has disappeared. Has anyone else experienced the same? and what does it mean?

2 Months - Singapore

Hi All,

Visa Type: 309 - De Facto
Lodge Date: 29th Jan 2017
Visa Granted Date 29th Mar 2017
Applied from: Singapore

Very smooth procedures except we were required to show financial commitments but we do not have a lot of those. They could tell the relationship is real but being bureaucrats, they had to tick the box.

Happy to field any queries =)

It means that he's been approved as a sponsor (fulfilling the formal requirements).
It seems to be one of the earlier steps in the process. We had it too (shortly after I got the request for the medical), but some people never see the "approved" behind their sponsor's name. Some COs seem to change this detail, others don't. Either way, someone has looked at your application and things are moving ahead! It doesn't mean your application has been approved though. That still depends on the evidence you provided/keep providing.

Thank you for the swift reply
Were you asked to provide any additional information after the sponsor's status changed? and were you still able to upload documents onto Immi?
For us, the "Attach documents' link has disappeared
Also, it might be useful to note that the "information requested" button appeared right around the time we lodged the application, and we fulfilled the request and clicked the button 2 weeks later.

Hey Guys,

Hope you all are doing good. I am new to this forum and wanted to get an idea about the wait time. I applied for my partner visa on the 2nd of Feb 2017 and submitted my bio metrics on the 7th of Feb 2017.

On the 24th of March we received a text from VFS mentioning that our visa has been processed, which was really strange and as we did not upload any medicals / police clearance report. BUT we did not received anything from IMMI.

So our lawyer advised us to do the medicals and apply for the police clearance. Then while i was waiting for my police report my husband got an email from Australian immigration requesting for his police clearance.(3rd april 2017)

So by the 13th of April my medicals and police report was uploaded and 17th of april my husbands police report was uploaded. still we did not hear anything from immi.

We inquired why we got a message from vfs saying its processed no reply as at yet. So we wait now.

Have anyone got any messages from vfs like this? please let me know

Hi Rooh 91,
Welcome to the forum
How interesting that me and you applied for the visa on the same day! Except I am in Egypt and you are in Sri Lanka.
It would be great to keep track of each other's timelines
Unfortunately I am not able to advise you as to why you received such a text from VFS, it really is strange
