Off-Shore Defacto Posted - When will I hear back?

Hi There,
I am sure I am just worrying un-nesscarily but some reassurance would be good here! I posted my off-shore defacto visa application to London on 14/03/11 and checked via recorded delivery that they had received it on 15/03/11. Today is 17/03/11 and I am yet to hear anything back, its just making me nervous!!

Will I be contacted by email or phone? And what happens if they dont contact me?!?! I know it has only been 3 days.. too early to worry?

Thank so much.

Dani

p.s. If anyone is able to help me with my other query regarding working in the EU that would be a massive help also. Thanks!

Did you look on the London website? See what they say on there about application times, and look here for the timeline thread, lots of people have added to it, so it gives you a better idea of how long you may have to wait. Its a game of patience. Also if you send your application by recorded delivery or courier, then you know when it has been received.

Actually you should receive an email from them telling you the application has been received. Alternatively, you can check your credit card whether the fee has been charged. If neither happens, I'd contact them in about a week.

Hey betterfuture,
I saw you lodged you application in Berlin in December. I lodged mine early January and also waiting... Called them last week and it seems that they are understaffed and it all takes a little longer. Have you heared from them by now?

Hi, I emailed them and they said:
Please note that the average processing time of your visa application is 5months from the day of visa lodgment, and your case was lodged on the 16December 2010. Please also be advised that partner visa applications are being pocessed as quickly as possible and in the order of receipt. Many applicants are in similar to yours life circumstances. For details on the processing times please see germany.embassy.gov.au/beln/partner_engl.html under "Processingtime". If you wish you can travel to Australia on a suitable tourist visa while your spouse visa is in processing. Should your spouse visa be ready for grant while you are in Australia, you will be requested to leave Australia for a few working days to enable visa grant.

When I spoke to the Berlin embassy about 3 weeks ago, I was told that they had started processing December applications (started processing - not finalizing them). So it might just take another while.
