Ask Mark

Hi all,
On behalf of my mate, i am posting this query. My mate is on 457 visa and his employer is happy to do RSMS 187 for him. Now the questions are:
1. Do his employer has to reapply for nomination and RCB approval?

2. My mate has got overall 6 bands with 5.5 in writing. Can he get any exemption for 6 in each module as i believe 6 in each module is required for RSMS 187.

3. Do he has to get any skill assessment and from where he can get it assessed?.
Currently the nominated job he is doing is Agricultural Technician with the same employer.
Thanks for your kindness for reading this.
Thanks

Hi 786Guri,

Answering your questions:

1. Yes . Employer has to apply for RCB approval. The employer nomination is part of the visa application after the RCB has approved.

2. English level depends on whether you mate is applying through the Transitional Stream (must have worked for same employer in the occupation for at least 2 years on a 457 to be eligible) OR the Direct Entry Stream. If Transitional needs Vocational English (at least IELTS 5,5,5,5). If Direct Entry needs Competent English (at least IELTS 6,6,6,6). There are no waivers.

3. Agricultural Technician is Skill Level 2. It does not need a skills assessment.

Regards
