VISA Category

I am working as a project manager in one of the IT company. my consultant informed me that the immigration in Sydney opened under Software Engineer category.

I need your help to know if it would have any impact on my creeer or job opportunities if I apply under software engineer category?

also will it have any impact on getting a VISA. in my career, I started as software engineer but not working as project manager from past few years.

I can't comment on whether it will impact your ability to get a visa, but hopefully your migration agent (are they a MARA registered agent?) can guide you with this.

Employers won't care what visa category you apply under. They will only care what qualifications and experience you have.

If I'm not wrong, it sounds like you might be trying for a skilled migration visa. You might want to give the points test a try (can be found on the government immigration website) to see if you will qualify.

I have already cleared the IELTS and have engough score. Only question I have is that I am working as project manager in software company, but the VISA is available under Software Engineer category.
Should I go ahead and apply under Software Engineer category, I worked as Software Engineer initially and then promoted to project manager
