Do i need to prepare AOS

hi everyone,

I'm in the process of sorting out 820 visa. My partner/sponsor 's job was kinda not too stable during the 2009 financial year, and the taxable income was 26988, during the 2010, the taxable income was 33876. He was on centrelink newstart allowance for about one and a half month in the past year. However, he's now having a permenant job, earning 50k per year.

I'm a little worried whether an AOS will be required in our situation since he was on centrelink allowance.
Pls suggest, thanks.

Hi there,

If your partner now has a stable job, you might not need an AoS. Even if he did get payments for half a month, it was a very brief time.

DIAC looks at the big picture when considering an AoS: your job, his job, your assets, your education etc. Also, an AoS can be done by up to 3 people together, even if your partner is not one of the assurers, so don't get stressed about it just yet. I've heard of pensioners being able to support their partners, so I think you ought to be fine.
