PMV :proving intention to live together as couple.

Hello everyone!

So my Australian partner and I have decided to apply for PMV in a few months.

We are trying to gather all documents in preparation for submitting application.

My question:

How can we prove that we intend to live together as a couple?

We will be applying through Washington.

Thanks in advance for your responses

Hi, You do not have to prove that you are living as a couple for a PMV. You do have to prove that you have physically met and that they you know each other well. The only evidence you need to show that you intend to live together as a couple is that you have already booked a wedding day. You can arrange that with a wedding celebrant.

Regards

Oh thank you Jeremy!

I thought that proof of intention to live together was separate requirement from proof of intention to marry.

I was wondering how on earth we could do that. We do have a joint account.

Nope - no need to worry about that. Provide your NOIM and you'll be all set. We also included a few messages where we'd talked about our plans for the future and made plans to find a new place to live together, etc. Probably wasn't necessary though. The statements from friends and family can also address your intention to live together and your plans for your future together, if they're aware of that info.

We applied for pmv in April and were later requested to give evidence that we intended to live together as spouses. It's a hard one, we sent in additional statements actually stating that my partner would reside with me in Sydney and how we planned to manage household tasks etcetera. We had already submitted noim and statements with the application so it kind of threw us, it's hard to provide evidence of something that is not happening yet lol. Anyway hopefully that was enough they didn't request anything further... Good luck with your application

That's pretty unusual, summer. Glad they didn't hassle you over it once you provided some basic info.

My thoughts are that it was not directly specified in the original statements, of course we said we want a family and intend to get married but I don't think we stated the living arrangements because it's almost implied :/ I'm hoping it was just to tick a box, and not something to worry about. Although I'll probably spend this week worrying about it now lol.

Ah, yeah, sounds like that's all it was. Our statement did already include that information (that I would live with him in the house he already had, how we anticipated chores being divided, etc.)

On the checklist, there is reference to intention to live together, but they also state that they know it is hard to prove.

Anyways, we have joint account, mail addressed to me using his address, copies of emails with both our email addresses regarding plans to extend the house, pictures and receipt for household items we purchased together during my visit.

I hope all goes well with your visa application Summerandtilly . We're still collecting evidence for visa app.
