Unless you were able to find an employer to sponsor you and that can be difficult from overseas unless you are highly specialised and skilled, you can look at independent skilled application and all details are available starting @ Professionals and other Skilled Migrants - Workers - Visas & Immigration
There are basic things like having an ielts english score and getting your qualifications assessed and then depending on age and experience you will get so many more points.
But have a look at the 175 and 176 visas and requirements are all well laid out under eligibility and applying for visa sections with a clear Checklist and an online Booklet referenced as well.
You can decide to apply online or stick with a paper application.

Your wife and children can be added as secondary applicants at no cost though what is known as a second installment will be payable depending on what her english language ability is.

There are some changes scheduled to occur from July this year and so you should also have a look at the Whats New topics linked from the above page and you will see a greater emphasis on english ability is one change.
Even if your wife already speaks english, you may wish for both of you to attend an english course so as you can potentially register a higher ielts score and the second installment can be avoided.
