How long does it take to get a CO from Berlin Visa Office?

I have lodged my visa application (309 de facto) 10 weeks ago (january 11 2011), offshore in Berlin. A few days after sending it, I got confirmation and the fee was taken out of my account. Since then we have heared nothing. I called last week and was informed they are currently understaffed and it may take a little longer to get a case officer.
I am curious if anyone who applied in Berlin end of December or early January can make me happy, and tell me they just had their case officer contacted them?
Thanks.

There are just so many people, even on this forum who are looking for faster contact and/or processing.
It is all a bit like a ball of string and how long is the string, there being quite a few factors and staffing one for visas whereas how big a ball is it, what is the thickness of the string and how large a hollow centre can all affect just what length of string will be in the ball.
Visa processing will also be affected by just how many applications come in at any particular time and at what time of year.
Moving into the second half of a financial year, it has not been unusual for the annual budgetted visa numbers to be neared and so you can get a situation where visas will not be processed as quick.
There is not much point in looking at what has happened with other applications and it is usually just a case of time and patience.

I lodged two days before you did. I contacted them about 3 weeks ago when I had to submit additional documents and was told they had started processing december applications, and that visas may also be subject to month-specific quotas. I also asked whether we would have the visa by May as we wanted to travel in mid-May, they said probably not, even though we have a Baby on the way. So I think you should just be patient, no point in contacting them again.

Thanks Lisa and Wanderer. I know the key to this all is to be "just" patient. I am not pestering the Visa Office... Sometimes the courage just grows a little thin and we look for things that help us get through the hard times..... Especially since my partner in Australia and i am in Holland.
I was not expecting at all, to have it finalised by now. I think we should be happy if we even make it within 6 months. Since I have not done my medicals yet, i was curious if I had a case officer and that is when i made the call. They stick to their story that in general you get one in 6-8 weeks, but now we know that it takes longer. They also process in order of receipt, so i figured if anyone out here who lodged a 309 in December got a Case Officer, things are slowly moving closer
Congratulations on you pregnancy Lisa. I hope things will go smooth in your visa process!
