Photocopies for AFP and UK Police Checks

Hi All,

I was just wondering if the photocopies of your passport, drivers license, and proof of address need to be certified, as it does not state anywhere on the information sheet that it needs to be.

Also, is it best to get it that done straight away and then send them off with the application (i.e. I get the police checks done now, and then send them with the application in June, so they will be a couple of months old)?

Thanks all for your help!

To help save people making stupid mistakes to delay processing if not having a visa application rejected and that is considerable $$$$ down the drain, Immi have a web site and under the different visas you will find a Checklist just like http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/_pdf...-checklist.pdf

It is a good idea not to just use one but also to read all links including a relevant Booklet and even attach the Checklist to your application if that is what it says.

Do not do that and you are a bigger dill than you will ever think you are.

Hi All,

I may have not asked the question properly, I was not talking about certifying documents for the partner visa application, I just wanted to know if the copies of your passport etc need to be certified for the application for AFP and UK police checks?

Also, if it is okay that the police checks are a couple of months old when I hand in the partner visa application?

Hope that's a bit clearer! Thanks all for your help!

You will need to look at the police application forms to see what they require but I doubt that you need to supply a certified copy of ID for I expect you'll be stating in the application what your ID is and a report will be issued against that particular ID.

Medicals are good for 12 months but it is always best to put them in after your application and likewise it is with police checks and it'll be up to Immi whether they want to accept a report dated some months before your actual application is submitted.

Hi Olex
I sent photocopies only x2 with my AFP check, (the site does not ask for certified copies). I am waiting for it to come back so will update when it arrives.

For the UK one, I had to find someone who knew me for 2 years to sign a photo and provide their contact details as I didn't know anyone on the list of professions listed. Then you have to provide something with your address on x2.

Once you've sent it off with your payment, you get an email advising you that your application has been received and an idea of timescale.

Hope this information helps.

Regards, Sonia

p.s. Yes get it done first as they are valid for approx a year. The AFP one can take up to 15 working days.

certified copies?

Hi all

Sonia, just wondering if you've gotten a response from the AFP about your application.

Would sending non-certified photocopy of photographic identification be sufficient? or does AFP require photographic id plus certified copy of non-photographic id?

Thanks !
