starting new defacto/partner visa

My partner is Canadian, he is currently on a working holiday visa in Aus.
His boss attempted to sponsor him, however after some time lagging in letting us know his receptionist finally said it would be too hard blah blah.. anyways we are now scrambling to gather information for partnership visa before his VISA runs out on july 1st! ahh
I have read Unofficial defacto visa with thanks,... great info! but.. With him obtaining his police check etc from Canada.. somewhere i read they got it from there local police station in Canada, rather then the RCMP. Does any Canadian out there who has gone through the same have any advice on this?
Also we are going to register our relationship becuase when we were in Canada we have no access to our signed leases, which in total means we only have 7 months of live in proof for the 12 months needed.

We have the forms 47/40 and are sending out stat decs to some friends and family who are happy to help.. but kinda a bit lost on other forms of proof
I have a credit card purchase for our flight back to aUS.. but my bag tag has his name on it.. and so does his!!
raa so annoying because his mate paid using his card for him and used my own! we have few pics with travels.. a lease in aus and some letters from his parents with my name in it...
anyways... Any other tips would be great and much appreciated.
