Sounds like you teach what we call "prep" here. It is the grade before grade 1 and they must be 5 by 30 June in the year that they enrol and they go 5 days a week.

Someone will correct be if I am wrong but I thought you needed 3 years experience? But thinking about it maybe you could get away with it if you have enough points.

Hopefully someone will reply to confirm that.

Hi Takhar,

I suggest that have a look at the Skills Assessment Requirements for both the Early Childhood (Pre-Primary) Teacher and Primary School Teacher. You can download these from: Assessment for Migration | Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership. These set out the education and English Requirements. Note that you need IELTS 8 for each of Speaking and Listening, and 7 for each of reading and writing in the Academic version of the test.

Regards

No you wont be qualified, be as you need to be qualified to teach 0-5. Even in Australia you need to do units to do the early years as a primary teacher. They do have a conversion course especially primary teachers and it takes a year at Macquarie university but I not sure if your degree will be recognized, if you didnt do your degree in an english country. Primary teaching is very competitive in Australia, and even Australian trained teacher wait 5 years or more before getting a permanent job. I would suggest early childhood teaching as this is a shortage area.
