888 forms statutary declarations.

Hi everyone im new to this forum. I have few questions regarding 888 forms.
1. Can i get more than two people to do 888 forms?
2. Do i have to accompany my friends when the notary signs these forms or can they do it without me being around?
3. Is it ok if my friends who are filling the form were not present at our wedding but they do know us since very long time.
I appreciate if someone could answer these questions.

1. You are required to have 2 Australian citizens to do stat decs for you. You can submit more than 2, but not less.
If you don't know any Australian citizens who know BOTH of you - i.e. can vouch for your relationship - you can get non-Australians to do it. In which case more than 2 might be better.

2. No, you do not have to accompany the friends to a notary. The notary is actually affirming that the documents were written by someone else - i.e. not you - so remember your friend needs to take their passport and a copy of their passport - the notary needs to certify that too!

3. Yes, it is ok if they were not at your wedding, as long as they can vouch for your relationship.

Remember that there are official Statutory Declaration forms (form 888) you can download, so it is best to use them, they are very simple for your friend to fill in.

First of all: "de facto," not "de fecto." Second of all, it's only critical in certain circumstances, not for most people. Definitely a good idea to ask people to use it if you think of it, but not using it is not a dealbreaker except under special specific circumstances that don't apply to most people.
