Stat decsa from each partner

Just curious to know what way people went with these?
I read on unofficial defacto visa tip thread that she did it on a computer.. is this acceptable? also does it have to be formal or can it just be from how i would speak if i was face to face?

Hi there,

You can use an official stat. dec. form if you are in Australia:

Statutory declarations

Or you can type the statement using a computer and have the printout witnessed, or simply write it by hand on some paper and get that signed. It doesn't have to sound really posh and formal. They just want to see your real feelings for eachother and if it's a legitimate relationship, so just write it as it comes to you

Hi Aussie Girl,

Does it HAVE TO be witnessed? (I'm not in Australia or Australian) I know you have to with other people's stat decs, but info about my partner's and my stat decs seem unclear. I understood that we can just type them, sign them and send them

Hi again,

The statements from you and your partner have to be signed in front of a qualified person. The form 888 from your Australian friends and family to support your relationship also have to be signed in front of someone and stamped/ signed by them.

They are legal documents, not just letters, so you have to follow legal procedures as closely as you can.

Bizkit, yes, I'm talking about the relationship statements.

HM20, even if overseas, you are still supposed to get the statements witnessed. You can pay to have it done at an Australian embassy following Australian standards. Or, you can do it according to the laws of the country you are in. Read the partner booklet again about statements when overseas, and look on the DIAC site as well.

Can my statement which will be written by hand on an ordinary bit of letter paper be written in lower case? or should block letters be used for all?

If you're worried that your handwriting is messy, then I guess it wouldn't hurt to use capitals, but you don't have to.
