de facto spouse visa - living in mongolia with UK girlfreind

hi there,

nice forum, lots of information.

our situation is as follows. i'm an oz citizen with an de facto english girlfriend. we have been together for 3.5 years; 22 months in the UK and have been living in mongolia on an ex-pat posting since august 2009. we are looking into a de facto visa to relocacte back to perth. we have also just discovered that we are expecting a child in december, so it's all very exciting but just a lot to organise.

a few questions:

- does anyone know the determination of residency: we were heading to the UK for holiday in a month and were going to lodge the application there (have sent some documents there). however, it appears that we may have to submit in Beijing (luckily you can do via mail) as we have been in mongolia the last couple of years.
- does anyone know of approx processing times for de facto visas in Beijing? i'll be transferring to a new job on 1 Oct and we'd obviously like a bit of time to settle, and sufficient time to allow us to fly.

i think that's about it.

cheers,

nick
