Student Visa - Transfer to shorter course & graduate before expiry of student visa

Hi I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this.

I was initially enrolled for a 2.5 years course and a student visa 573 was granted for the duration of the course. I transferred to a shorter 2 years course one year into the program to another of the same education level within the same education provider, and therefore recently graduated normally under the 2 years course.

Under such circumstance, I have an additional 0.5 years left on my student visa which only expires next year Mar 15. Recently, I have also applied for a GSM 189 visa and been granted a BVA but is not in effect because my student visa is still in effect. The BVA entitles full work rights.

My questions are:
1) Does this fall under the early graduation category (although I graduated under normal circumstance) and will DIPB cancel off the remaining portion of my student visa which will thus affect my BVA?

2) If this isn't an early graduation category, what are the working limits I have? Do I have unlimited work hours considering I have no classes in session until the expiry of the visa in Mar 15?

I appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

Hi,

Your have completed your course, therefore your are on semester break. Because of this you can work full time. Because you have completed your course and have applies for a new visa the Department will not bother you. They will consider that you are on semester break. Your BVA will kick in on expiry of your student visa. Once your BVA kicks in you will need need to apply for a BVB if you wish to leave Australia and come back.

Regards
