Age difference for spousal visa

Ok... how to start... i am an older woman married to a younger egyptian man, because of certain circumstances we havent applied for him to come to australia as of yet.

i have a friend in a very similar situation; she has a good job, she is settled and can support her husband if he comes here... so why is it one of the reasons given for the denial of her husbands visa was based on age difference???

older men in australia managed to get their wives from other countries so easily and they have bigger age differences; 30 year age differences... what is with the double standards??? isnt this an equal opportunity country?

would love any feed back on this, or even just to hear from ppl who have had a similar problem

Hi there,

Did your friend's husband apply in Cairo? Did he have a female case officer? A number of posters here who have gone through Cairo have complained about one particular case officer there who seems to refuse visas for applicants based on age, not having a big traditional wedding and other reasons based on her own cultural judgements. I don't remember her name, but if you search the forum you'll see the entries that refer to this issue.

I suggest that you use an agent if you have enough money to do so. An agent will be able to help you present your case and use immigration law to back you up in the event that your husband's application ran into trouble.
