do i qualify for sponsership?

hey guys, wondered if anyone can answer this question,
ive been in australia since feb, ive just got myself a job as a carer in a residential home, this is what i did back home in the uk, i gained nvq 2 and 3 which are recognised here,
and my question is does being a carer qualify for sponsorship by the employer?
all i can seem to find when i search is carers for relatives, which is not wot i am doing,
also can i ask my employer to sponser me? or do i have to wait for them to ask me?
ive checked the prices and it is not that expensive, a couple of hundred $ here and there, if ive looked right??
I can only work in 1 employer for 6 months at a time without sponsor ship .
thanks
