IELTS Academic or General for SkillSelect

Hi,

I am planning to apply for SkillSelect Independent 189 VISA. All I need is a 7 each IELTS score to qualify. Can someone guide me if the IELTS should be General or Academic ?

If you require points towards the visa, then the general IELTS is sufficient. Some occupations require the academic IELTS for a positive skills assessment, but you'd need to check with your skills assessor regarding this.

Most applicants choose to take the general test as it's usually possible to get a higher score. It seems people only take the academic test if they need it for their skills assessment.
