Form 80 for 309 Visa?

Does anyone know if we have to do this form for the 309 partner visa? My boyfriend is Canadian, no criminal history or anything like that. I've seen some people say everyone should, others say you don't have to. It's very extensive and he doesn't even know the answers to half the questions (all employment since birth, etc) so we'd prefer not to do it if we don't have to!
Thanks!

I'm a PMV (subclass 300 partner visa) applicant from the USA. I was told by the N Americas service center that I do not have to do a form 80 unless asked for it. Given the extensive and stressful nature of filling it out, I elected to wait to see if I am asked. I am not aware of any N American applicants who have been asked for it (I asked on the partner visa for DC thread) though some have elected to do it preemptively.

It's more commonly asked for applicants from high risk countries. I'd recommend he complete it as best he can, and then wait to see if they ask for it.

What is the consensus on this? Everyone seems to say different things! Do we need it for a 309 partner visa? my girlfriend (applicant) is from Germany.

I read here that it is now required for all applicants? http://www.australiaforum.com/visas-...eeded-now.html

So is it needed now or not?

It seems to depend on the embassy, so it's sometimes requested and sometimes not. It can't hurt to submit it. At a minimum, I'd suggest she completes it to have it ready if she is asked for it.

I am from Singapore applying for 309 and was asked to do Form 80 on the day of my submission. It wasn't on the checklist but apparently I was told it is required by the Oz embassy in Singapore.

My partner is French and we didn't fill that form out because it said it was optional, though as soon as we got our case officer assigned at the Madrid office on Saturday, she asked for it. So maybe just do it anyway if you can try to come up with the answers. It's a pretty ridiculous form! Asks so many questions that were already in the original application.

Hi IndyMama

We applied online for our 309/100 and the 309 was granted in 7 weeks without us filling out any Form 80. However, in our CO contacted us last week asking for it, so we assume this has something to do with the 100 visa (permanent residency).

It's a bit of a pest of a form, and it seems you're going to have to do it eventually. We've been together for 5 years and had heard of people in similar circumstances getting their 309 and 100 in one go, so perhaps it was a lack of our Form 80 that prevented that? Maybe submit your application without it - just to get it in the queue - and then upload it when you have time? Rather have it done than create a delay because it turns out you need it at a later stage. Good luck!
