Moving to Australia

Hello. My wife and myself are going to look at moving out to Australia in the near future. The companies we have in England are saying that it takes up to 2 years to get the visas and at a cost of nearly 6000, which is alot...
My question is... Do I need to use one of those companies or is there a cheaper and quicker alternative???

I have excellent qualifications and both my wife and I have family in Australia...

To be honest, I'm not sure if those companies are just out to make a lot of money out of people who just want a better life for their family and a fresh start...

what type of visa are you after or are you wanting to apply for. when you use an immigration lawyer it takes a lot of stress off your shoulders but it costs you almost the same price as the visa application.

It is fairly simple to complete the forms however make sure to include as much documents as you can and supply more than required. if you are on the wanted list you shouldnt have a huge problem with getting a visa.

I am after a permanent visa. Do they really cost 6000 and take nearly 2 years to go through?
I am on the "wanted" list, thankfully... I think I am just a bit to keen to move out there. So many people are put off because it takes so long. If I had a job offer would it be quicker? Also, we do have family and they would sponsor us.
I would happily do all the paperwork myself, I don't really get stressed out so using a lawyer is not really needed.

Do I apply to the Australian government for the visa paperwork or can I get it all here in the UK? Will the paperwork tell me everything I need to complete?

Thanks for your reply.

I want to live in Australia.

Hi there,

If you haven't done so, you should try the visa wizard on the DIAC site, as this will help you narrow down your alternatives and also give you much more information about what steps to take and how to apply than I can:

Australian Visa Wizard - Visas & Immigration

You definitely do not have to go through a migraton agent, and although it is a long and at times stressful process, you can go it yourself successfully if you read all the information and talk to people who have gone through it.
