help with 485 visa

Hey guys,

Hi everyone,

I'm currently on Higher Education 573 thats expiring on Aug 31st. Am getting all necessary information ready for Graduate Skilled Visa 485 so that I could stay here longer. But there are a few things I'm not too sure about.

1) I took a medical exam in Nov/Dec 2010 to extend my student visa at that time, will that medical still work for the 485? I actually have a hard copy of it sitting on my desk right now but I don't think I'm supposed to open it. Also I can't exactly remember the date of my checkup or the reference number(which DIAC does ask for) so I'm not too sure what to do.

2) Should I request for a police report from Singapore before I lodge my application? It mentions that I need a letter from DIAC to prove that I need one but DIAC also said that they can only give me that letter after I apply, which means it could take up to 3 weeks after that for me to get my police report from Singapore, I'm not sure if there is a way to get that police report before I apply.

3) Let's say I managed to get everything in order and lodge my visa application. I know I'll get put on a Bridging visa while waiting for it to processed but what happens if I get rejected? How long do I have before I have to leave Australia?

4) Lastly, before I began my studies here, I actually deferred one semester due to issues back home so I arrived one semester late and had to apply for a visa extension end of last year to complete my last semester. While I have been studying for 2 years would being on 2 visas affect the study requirements?

Really hope someone can help me out here

Hi Nicole,
I am writing this to you expecting that it will help u in your visa application. I am not professional but I am advising you based on my experience since I am also applying for subclass 885.

1. Firstly, your previous medical reports won't work. This is because 485 falls under general skilled migration and medical requirement are different than student visa.

2. I dont know how it works in singapore but I already did police check from my country and it was done from my country's consulate here in melbourne, australia. Usually, immigration accepts police check which is not older than 1 year. So even if you submit police check now and if it takes more time in allocating CO and your police check gets older than 1 year CO will ask for another. But you can try from singapore consulate in australia.

3. If your visa is rejected, you will be given 28 days to leave the country. You can try searching for other visa option withing this time.

4. I'm sorry but I didnt get your last question. Whtat does it mean by "being on 2 visas" which two visas you're talking about.

All the best.
