Is it possible to change embassies? E.g. If you moved countries after applying? I'm seriously thinking of moving to south Africa just so I can get the visa in 19 days. Would this work? Could you apply for a visa while on tourist visa in south Africa?

My understanding the visa will be processed at the embassy closest to your place of residence, can your partner easily get a resident visa for South Africa?
Also as you already have a application lodged in Berlin you would most probably have to withdraw that and loose your application fee.

Guys... there are really fast (outlier) approvals this fast in many (virtually all) countries once in a blue moon. It means nothing. I really would not be moving in the hopes it will happen to you. That's kind of like moving to a different country that also has a lottery because you saw someone won the lottery there...

I think the lower processing times in SA only apply to SA passport holders. Otherwise it's the standard 10+ months wait. It's all on their website.

If anyone is curious, we submitted a complete application (medicals and police checks complete)
Good luck to those still waiting, I will cross my fingers for you!

Two people out of how many SA applicants? They're still outliers. And to likely have any chance at all you'd have to be an SA passport holder, as someone else said. Moving is not the answer.

The wait times SUCK - we can all agree on that. I'm just trying to keep people from uprooting themselves and their families for nothing.
