British hairdresser looking to get residency in Melbourne

my names Fae, i recently moved to Melbourne in February from London. I am hoping to apply for residency come next february so that i can stay another year or two. As i am working full time as a hairdresser, i was wondering if this would help my case as it is on the skilled occupation list and whether i would just apply for sponsership from work or would i need to do the fruit picking for 3months?
If i can apply for sponsership, when would i start applying and how much does it normally cost? Also how much longer would that entitle me to stay in Melbourne?
Aswel i have family in Victoria so would this make an difference when i apply?

Many Thanks
