Subclass 600 Tourist Stream Processing time Washignton DC

Hello I am a Indian Citizen currently working in the US. I am currently single and am planning to apply for a tourist visa for a hoiday in australia for 2 weeks.. Since I am from India, I would have to lodge a paper application to the the embassy in Washington DC. Would anyone know the current processing time to get the visa. I already have prematurely booked my non refundable tickets for december 6th 2014. Reading on other forums and here, I have realized that it is a nightmare to get the subclass 600 tourist visa within 4-6 week and my flight is in 3 weeks. Has anyone recently applied for this class of visa via the paper application and received the visa within 2 weeks. Is it even worth applying now for the visa. I cannot change my travel dates but if it there is no shot of getting a visa within 2 weeks then i can just change my holiday plan to some other destination. This way i just incur the change fee penalty for my tickets and wont have to pay for the visa application fee. thanks

My first visa application submitted in May 2014 was granted in 3 weeks. It has been exactly 3 weeks since my current visa application and still no word.

It is unrealistic to expect visa grant within 2 weeks as this is peak season for applications since many people are trying to visit friends and family.

There is pretty much no chance you will get a visa by then. This is a busy time of year for DIBP because of the increased number of tourist visa's for the holiday season.
