Hi, I was wondering what are peoples thoughts on using an agent for a spouse visa? As I've noticed that they tend to charge a few thousand dollars extra for there services. I've read the paperwork, and it seems not to complex to do yourself, and I'm sure if anyone was stuck on a question that it could be answered on this forum.. Or the chance of the visa being granted higher using an agent?
You don't need to use an agent, especially if your case is pretty straight forward, you have solid evidence and/or are from a low risk country.
Where they are useful is if your case has complications/not straight forward and/or the applicant is from a high risk country. This is why I used an agent (our application was certainly not straight forward & I'd previously had difficulty getting tourist visa for my partner), and although its cost quite a bit of money our agent has been worth his weight in gold. Very professional, very prompt, very experienced, and knew the intricacies of the particular embassy we were dealing with. A good agent will know how to present your application in the best possible way & know how to make it "easy" for your CO to process -- so yeah I guess less chance of it being rejected.
Thanks for the reply, I'm Australian, however my partner is from the philippines which i believe is a high risk country, and she is currently pregnant, so just been reading thru the forum trying to findout which visa is best, as its quite confusin when u first read everything. So maybe I might be best off forking out the few extra $$.
hold on a minute there..... i heard (not that it is something to base legal matters on) .. that when there is a baby in the mix .. the imigration is very keen for the family to be together. but yes an imigration agent can be worth it .. i know the horrors of thinking have i done the application well enough is there anything missing?
I just received an email from an agent that provides a checking service if you want to fill out and complete your own application, for $400, probably not a bad investment just to be on the safe side
