Online payment modes allowed for Visa Subclass 189

Hi,

I'm J Ananth Prakash and from Bangalore, India.

I got an a invitation letter for my EOI on Nov 26th. I have filled Visa subclass 189 application online. I have included my family of 3 members in the same application. After submitting the application and while making a payment, I'm facing a lot of issues.

In the immigration websites its mentioned that the Online applications payment MUST be made through credit card. In my case, as I'm from India, no bank's credit limit will be that high. I've requested the bank (Standard Chartered), who issued my credit card, to allow a one time transaction of 8000AU dollars, and told them I'd make a immediate payment. But my request was declined. I also suggested that I'd make a 'advance payment' of this amount into my card and requested them to allow it. Again my request my declined.

In the payment section on the online application, I see that Debit cards are also accepted. I hold a mastercard debit card. I called the bank (ICICI), with whom I hold my savings account, and requested them to raise the international transaction limit so that I could finish the payment. But when I enter the debit card details, my transaction comes back as declined.

When I contacted ICICI bank, they told me that the issue could be because of these two reasons:

1. Incorrect entry of the card details
2. Merchant (Immigration Australia) does not allow transactions using this debit card

Having ruled out option 1 above, I submitted a complaint to the Online Immigration team but am yet to hear from them.

I'm sure many people from India would have faced the same predicament that I'm facing now. Can someone please let me know what modes of payment are accepted for a 'subclass 189' visa application submitted online? It will help if you could share your solutions if you faced the same problem as me.

Thanks Sam. Arora, did the option suggested by Sam work for you? If yes, I'd inform my friends of the same.

I requested my cousin in UK to pay using her international credit card. I had to foot a huge transfer charges, but the payment was made.

Yes it did. I used the travel card to make the VAC2 payment. Just ensure you load it with Australian Dollars including the surcharge amount as well.

My migration agent told I can use his credit card to make the payment. But I have to pay certain VAT+surcharge fees.
