485 Visa Extension

Hi,

I've been staying in Australia for the past 6 years and just recently submitted my EOI for PR 189. However, my current visa (485) is expiring in 3 weeks time and based on current rounds of invitation I require at 1 more month before I receive my invitation (expecting invitation around January)

Based on my research I may apply for tourist extension for 3 months, is that the best way to go? Are there any other alternatives? I am worried that if I apply for tourist extension, I might be imposed with 8503 (no further stay).

Hi, anybody in the same boat? What are the reasons you provide when applying for the visitor visa?

There are several things you can do. A popular one to go back to school and study a diploma of business for 6 months. Another is to go home and apply from offshore when you get your invitation . Your can come back on a tourist visa and apply for a BVA when you come back after you have applied. You go back to Singapore, apply for an ETA and come back just about straight away.
